This fish may be a hybrid with rainbow trout since it is more heavily spotted than most goldens. In sunlight, this fish appears as a classic golden trout, however. Note the black border along the pelvic fins and red belly; also notice the size and shape of spotting, especially to the posterior. Habitat also influences spotting numbers and pattern in trout.
